11 Plus Wirral

For those sitting the Wirral 11 Plus in September 2020, the exam will now follow the GL Assessment format and not the CEM (as  used from 2016-2019). The exam is designed to test a child's natural ability and intelligence. GL exams test verbal and non-verbal reasoning, alongside, maths, spatial awareness and reading comprehension and language.

At LEAD we ensure that children acquire and secure an in-depth understanding of core skills and knowledge alongside specific example questions and test techniques.

Upton Hall Exam

This is completely different to the 11 Plus test! Focussing solely on verbal reasoning, There are two closed papers each lasting 50 minutes. Scores are standardised and account for age. An overall score of 236 is needed to meet the standard required.

At LEAD we offer lessons specific to the skills and techniques needed to pass this exam. These lessons are additional to any 11 plus lessons as the content is different.

St. Anselm's College

Again this too is very different to the 11 Plus. It consists of three papers: verbal reasoning, maths ( including reasoning and arithmetic) and English (essay writing and comprehension).

At LEAD our lessons provide pupils with the skills and writing techniques needed to engage the reader, grammatical functions, comprehension support and lots of mathematical problem solving.

For all entrance exam courses, an initial assessment will be made and lessons will focus on improving core skills, solving 'test style' questions, as well as developing exam techniques. Mock exams are available for those wishing to test their progress. These sessions will cost £40 and will last approximately 2 hours. Feedback and next steps will be given once the tests have been marked. Relevant (but fun) homework will be set after each session and whilst it is not compulsory, it will help progress.
